David J. Witzgall Named Vice President of American Financial Group
CINCINNATI, May 25, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- American Financial Group, Inc. (NYSE: AFG; Nasdaq) announced that David J. Witzgall has been named Vice President and Treasurer of the Company. Mr. Witzgall joined American Financial in 1976 and held a number of accounting and finance positions until he left to become Vice President and Controller of publicly-held General Cable Corporation in 1993. He re-joined the Company in 2001, becoming the Vice President and Controller of Great American Insurance Company.
Mr. Witzgall was promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the Property and Casualty Group of Great American in March of this year. He holds an undergraduate degree in Accounting from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Through the operations of the Great American Insurance Group, AFG is engaged primarily in property and casualty insurance, focusing on specialized commercial products for businesses, and in the sale of retirement annuities, life and supplemental health insurance products.
